Sydney

Welcome

G’day and welcome to Sydney Class!

We are named after Sydney, the oldest and largest city in Australia. People who live in Sydney are called ‘Sydneysiders’. There are lots of interesting parts to Syndey such as the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Royal Botanic gardens and Toronga Zoo.

Term three and four has seen the children continue to be grow in independence and achieve fantastic things in their learning. As we reach the final two terms together in year two, not only will we be embarking upon SATs, but also lots of exciting new areas of learning as well as the usual summer term fun of trips and sports day. We really enjoyed our ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ topic, learning about the continents of the world and the 5 oceans, as well as continuing to use atlases and maps to find locations.

After an interesting two terms learning all about the continents, this term will see us moving onto the topic 'Around the World in 80 Days'. This topic is also geography based and we will learning lots of facts about countries in the UK. Alongside our topic learning, we will be creating Art and DT work based on this theme. Our Act of Worship in term 6 will allow us to share our learning from term four and five in English, Maths, Topic, RE, PE, Music and Science.

In RE, the children will continue their learning about Hinduism moving onto Christianity again later on in the term. Within our Science lessons we are going to be looking at plants, exploring how seeds and bulbs mature and describe what plants need to grow. PE lessons will be dedicated to athletics and continuing our team games.

Children can earn extra team points and rewards for any extra research they might want to do at home, exploring our current Maths/ English/ Topic, Science work.

If there is anything you would like to discuss with me please feel free to catch me after school.
