Welcome to Kilimanjaro Class!
Last term our themes were ‘Fire’ and ‘Water’. Before half-term, we learnt about the Romans, including finding out about the Roman Army and their invasions of Britain and making Roman soldiers and mosaics. In Science, we learnt about ‘Light and Shadows’ and in R.E., we thought about the different ways in which the Holy Trinity is represented.
After half-term, as part of our ‘Water’ theme, we learnt about Venice. We found out facts about the city, compared Venice with London and discovered the methods that both cities are using to resist flooding. We wrote persuasive texts that would tempt readers to visit Venice and designed and constructed bridges, measuring wood carefully and using saws and glue guns. In Science, we learnt about bones and muscles in the human body.
We enjoyed reading ‘James and the Giant Peach’ by Roald Dahl as part of Book and Science weeks, creating our own characters, researching minibeasts, creating papier mache peaches and seagulls and making the book characters out of fruit.
This term, we will be learning about Ancient Greece. We will be studying Ancient Greek myths and legends and learning how Ancient Greek ideas shaped the modern world. We will also be growing and studying plants in Science and in R.E., we will be thinking about the impact of Pentecost.
Below are some photos of our learning and to the right of this page are websites that could be useful.
We are looking forward to a busy term ahead and will keep you updated on our progress!
