Welcome to Kilimanjaro Class!
This year, our classes are named after mountains. Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, is the highest mountain in Africa and is the largest volcano outside South America. Take a look at our website links to find out more about this majestic mountain.
This year, we will be using a ‘Connected Curriculum’ approach, linking different aspects of our learning to our themes of Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Our Autumn Term theme is ‘Earth’ so, in History, we will be learning about changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age and creating artwork associated with this period. In Science, before half-term, our topic is ‘Rocks’, which includes finding out about different types of rock and the layers of the Earth. After half-term, we will be learning about Forces and Magnets.
In R.E., we will be thinking about what it is like for Christians to follow God, before moving on to finding out about Sikhism. We are starting our P.E. sessions with basketball and will be improving our singing in Music.
Your child has been given logins for Times Tables Rockstars and Reading Eggs, which can be accessed from the link on this page and can help improve your child’s times tables and reading skills. Also listed are some other websites that can help with times tables practice, as well as some links to other sites related to our curriculum.
We are looking forward to a busy term ahead and hope to have some photos of our work on our page for you soon.
