Welcome to Kilimanjaro Class!
Last term, as part of our ‘Earth’ theme, we learnt about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age by going hunting, learning about Skara Brae and Stonehenge and creating cave paintings, stone pots and Iron Age houses. We also used the Stone Age setting to write descriptions, stories and diary entries. After half-term, we started our book ‘The Iron Man’ and we have written newspaper articles and letters, thinking about different people’s point of view.
In Science, before half-term, we learned about ‘Rocks’, making salt dough models of the structure of the Earth and demonstrating how sedimentary and metamorphic rocks were created. Later in the term, we found out about ‘Forces and Magnets’, investigating which materials were magnetic and which poles attracted and repelled each other.
This term, our theme is ‘Fire’ and we will be learning about the Romans and their impact on Britain. We will be finding out about the Roman Army, the invasion of Britain and the changes the Romans made to the country and way of life. In Science, our topic is ‘Light’ and in R.E., we will be learning about the Holy Trinity.
After half-term, as part of our ‘Water’ theme, we will be learning about Venice, thinking about the problems that the ‘Floating City’ faces, as well as looking at aspects of its art and culture.
To the right are some websites that you may find interesting and below are some photos of what we have been up to so far.
We are looking forward to a busy term ahead and will keep you updated on our progress!
