A warm welcome to Year 2’s class page!
Welcome to 2020.
Happy New Year
The spring terms are now upon us with a new theme of Fire and Flame.
We will be finding out about the Great Fire of London this term and also looking at how the artist Lowry drew buildings and people. In science, we are learning about Animals including humans and how we change as we grow. In dance, we are learning traditional dances of the UK in our Country Dance themed lessons.
Please continue to hear your child read as often as possible – it really makes a huge difference to their learning. Also, we are starting to learn multiplication and division so timestables should be practised regularly too.
We are now all named after woodland creatures. There are 3 types of woodpecker present in the British Isles: the greater spotted, lesser spotted and green. It is possible to see all 3 of these in the South East but you are more likely to hear them than see them!
Check out the RSPB pages of information here. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/woodpecker-family/

This is our new class book – check it out, but please do not spoil the suspense by reading this with your child in advance of our lessons! We are taking it a small section at a time!
