The Tenterden Rural Alliance is a collaboration of schools from the Tenterden area who are working together to raise achievement for all our pupils. We work closely with Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre, Goldwyn School, Tenterden Junior and Infant Schools and the primary schools in Rolvenden, Wittersham, High Halden, Biddenden, Charing, Egerton, St Michael’s and Bethersden.
The aim of the Alliance is to improve all schools within the alliance through joining a collaboration of learning and supporting each other, to ensure a future of high quality education. We aspire to offer a range of support and development for all staff involved in the alliance, with an emphasis on building personal skills as well as team proficiency. This includes:
- Initial Teacher Training/NQT Training
- Leadership Development
- Joint Practice Development
- School to School Support
- Professional Personal Development

We are also working closely with Whole Education to provide continuing professional development for all our staff.
Whole Education is a dynamic partnership of schools and organisations committed to redefining today’s educational offering. They believe that all children deserve an engaging and rounded education that supports academic achievement, but also develops the skills, knowledge and qualities needed to flourish in life, learning and work.
As a national network, Whole Education facilitates shared-learning and collaboration between innovative schools; exposes teachers to world-class thinking and approaches; and supports effective professional development, enabling its member schools to move beyond delivering the national curriculum to building a stronger foundation for learning – a ‘whole education’.
