FOWSA (Friends Of Woodchurch School Association) is a registered Charity and fundraising committee made up of teachers, parents and friends of the children at Woodchurch School. We aim to work with the school to raise money to buy the extras that make a big difference to the learning experience of the children and which the current school budget would struggle to provide. The money we are able to provide to the school enables everything from enrichment activities and iPads to supporting fundamental maintenance of school property to keep our children safe and secure. The money FOWSA raise each year makes a significant difference to the opportunities our school is able to give to its children. In the last 12 months, the money raised has been used to support pupils both joining and leaving the school – providing book bags and water bottles for the former and beautiful leavers’ books for the latter. We have also been able to pay for new laptops, magazine subscriptions and equipment for the school garden, the last of which allowed the school to become a big part of the ‘Woodchurch In Bloom’ initiative. Finally, extensive repair work was carried out to the playground fence over the summer break so that the children have been able to return to a fully restored playground area.
The FOWSA committee meet monthly and is made up of volunteers from parents, carers and teachers. Their responsibility is to run fundraising activities to support the school in a transparent and open manner and to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which new volunteers feel welcome. The committee come up with fundraising ideas and then work with volunteers from across the school to put these ideas into action.
The success of FOWSA is down to the hard work of its members and we are always looking for volunteers who can spare a couple of hours a week to support us and the school in any way so if you are interested in joining us or have a fundraising idea then please let us know. You can get in touch via the school or directly by emailing FOWSA@woodchurch.kent.sch.uk

How Can You Help?
If you don’t have the time to become part of our committee, there are still lots of ways to help us and raise money for the school:
Every Friday we hold a cake raffle (tickets £1) for a cake baked by one of our parents. Amateur bakers are very welcome to join the list of cake makers so why not sign up for this?

This is such an easy way to raise money for the school! For every purchase made through any of its partner websites, Easyfundraising will make a donation to FOWSA. The partners include many of the regular online retailers many of us use: Amazon, John Lewis, Sainsburys, Expedia, Tesco and Halfords to name a few. Register at the Easyfundraising website or click on this link which will take you straight to the FOWSA website. It pretty much couldn’t be easier and you can download a reminder which will alert you if you’re shopping on a site where a donation is possible. So far we’ve raised £1,242 through this partnership so please sign up – it doesn’t cost a penny but every purchase made makes a difference to us and the school.
Even if you don’t have time to sit in committee meetings, we always need people to help run our events. So if you’re happy to spin a tombola for an hour or sell hot dogs and popcorn to pint-sized film goers then please get in touch.
Thanks for all your support,
