School Uniform

Woodchurch Primary School believes that a school uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of the school and setting an appropriate tone for education. We expect all pupils to wear school uniform when attending school or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours.

Wearing a uniform supports high expectations, promotes a sense of identity, and helps pupils to feel part of a community. Pupils are expected to wear their uniform correctly and take pride in their appearance, as this reflects a readiness to learn.

In line with Department for Education (DfE) guidance, the school has given careful consideration to cost, availability, equality, and inclusion when determining uniform requirements. Wherever possible, items are widely available from local retailers, with only a small number of branded items.

Our School Uniform

  • Woodchurch red jumper, fleece, or cardigan with embroidered school logo

  • Plain white shirt (long or short sleeved) or white polo shirt

  • Grey shorts or trousers

  • Grey pinafore dress or skirt

  • Red gingham checked summer dress (Terms 5, 6, and 1 only)

  • White, grey, or black socks or plain navy, black, or red tights

P.E. Kit

For health, hygiene, and safety, children must have a change of clothes, socks, and footwear for P.E., kept in a drawstring bag at school.

P.E. uniform:

  • White ankle socks (separate from those worn with school uniform)

  • Black shorts

  • Plain t-shirt in house colour (blue, red, purple, or green)

  • Plimsolls or trainers – velcro fastenings are essential for younger children for indoor P.E.

  • Black jogging bottoms and/or school red sweatshirt/fleece/cardigan for outdoor lessons in cold weather

Please note:

  • Skirts and shorts should be an appropriate length and allow children to sit comfortably on the floor.

  • For safety, earrings must be removed for P.E. lessons. Your child’s teacher will let you know their P.E. days so earrings can be taken out at home.

Second-Hand Uniform

Our Friends of Woodchurch School Association (FOWSA) runs a second-hand uniform shop — a low-cost, eco-friendly option with good-quality used items for just £1 each.

When you order, you’ll receive a message asking whether you’d like to collect from the school office or have items sent home with your child. Please check your junk email folder for notifications. FOWSA aims to have items ready within 3 school days.
