Gross Motor Skills
Gross motor skills are the larger movements children make using their arms, legs and whole body – such as running, jumping, balancing and catching a ball. These skills are essential for coordination, confidence and everyday activities. Some children may need extra help to strengthen and refine these skills.
The Fizzy Programme
At Woodchurch, we use the Fizzy Programme to support children who need additional help with gross motor development. The programme provides structured activities that develop movement and control in a fun and supportive way.
It is divided into three focus areas, each with three levels that children can work through at their own pace:
-
Body awareness and coordination
-
Balance
-
Ball skills
How Fizzy Helps

Encourage independence and active involvement in school life
Guidance and Resources for Families
Families can also support their child’s progress at home by using the same activities. We provide:
